Hi everbody,
If you arrived here by way of the "SWITCH TO DEAN" site http://www.SWITCH2dean.com , then you're probably looking for "Other people's Switch Stories".
You can View Stories and Add Your Story by clicking those menu items at the top-left of the page. Also, the original blog post here where we ask for your Switch Stories is here: http://www.tblog.com/template...
(We had to use this blog-comment method of collecting new stories for the time being, until we can integrate a "tell us your story" submission setup to our main site. If it's confusing to you and you can't find the reader-contributed Switch Stories, please comment below. Thank you.)

Switch2Dean > The Credits
08.29.03 (8:13 pm) [edit]
This campaign, which launched today, was conceived of a mere 4 weeks ago, then hastily put together with a very clear intention: To capture the real life impact that Howard Dean is having on people as they weigh their choice for President in 2004.
Many professional people came together to stitch this all together, but the "auteur" was filmmaker Kevin Murray of San Francisco.
Here he is at the August Meetup where he interviewed the people you are now meeting on video. With him is cameraman and lighting pro Chris Million.

After the Switchers finished their interviews, they were asked to join a group discussion about the state of our country, as part of a documentary being put together by another DMT Director.

DeanMediaTeam Network > The Challenge
08.29.03 (7:25 pm) [edit]
Dean Media Team Creative Network (DMT) was conceived for this purpose: to harness the professional creative talents of Dean Supporters across the Nation. Intention One: Elect Gov Howard Dean President of the United States. Intention Two: Out-rove Rove; derail their photo-op manipulation campaign. They will not be allowed to succeed at expoiting the 3000 deaths at the World Trade Centers, they will not be allowed to succeed at portraying Bush as the Leader Who Punished The Bad Guys. He didn't -- big time.
The bad guys got away, and Rove said "Look over there!". And America went: "Where?"
"There! At Saddam -- He's comin' to get us! Git 'im !"
And America said "Yeah!! Git em!"
But The President lied. And Americans know that now -- and we will show them again and again -- that Bush never ever avenged the deaths of 9/11. He's only made matters worse, and as a result our National Security is gravely more at risk today. Yet Rove, his Senior Political Advisor, has connived for the President to kickoff the Republican Convention in New York City next September 11th with a distateful and grossly exploitative stage-managed photo-op where the Great Avenger places a cornerstone dedicating the re-building of the World Trade Center. Such a desecration of that sacred space where American blood was shed should never be allowed.
But in so doing, the President will be betraying the promise he made to Mindy Kleinberg and to the many other families of the 9/11 victims, when he looked them in the eye and told them he would "git em". Well he didn't. Instead he caused a war that did nothing, absolutely nothing to avenge the tragic deaths of so many Americans. And now we have more Americans dying daily. Why? For the photo-op War ostensibly to get al-qaeda and Osama Bin Laden, when all we really got was zip. And for that specific zip, the President drained the entire U.S. National Treasury thus ensuring no economic recovery for America.
We will show that Governor Howard Dean means it when he says: "If you care about how your money gets spent, you better elect a Democrat because Republicans do not know how to manage money."
This is true. Conversely, Governor Dean does know how -- and he proved it by balancing the budget in Vermont for all 11 consecutive years he held office -- and left the state with a healthy surplus. The President, meanwhile, is leaving America, and leaving office, with the largest deficit ever in the history of the United Sthates of America. Some money manager he is.
President Bush and Karl Rove will outspend us 20 to 1. However, they will pay for every single service they contract because no one, not one person, would ever volunteer creative services when the Cash Cow is doling out the moolah. You know how much these Switch ads cost the Dean Campaign?
Nothing.
And that's how we'll out-rove you, Rove. At the end of the day, all your multi-million-dollar efforts to paint your client as something he most clearly is not -- and imprint your constructed view into Americana using the Ad-Science of neuro-associative conditioning -- will not meet the effectiveness threshold of committed creative professional volunteers across this country who are your equals or better.
We're just getting started.
Let's roll.

Tell us Your Story - Why you Switched to Dean
08.29.03 (1:32 am) [edit]
Independents, Greens and even fed-up GOPers are switching to Howard Dean for President. He doesn't mince words, and the reason for that is he's been a Governor for 11 straight years. And in those years he balanced Vermont's state budget every year, he brought healthcare to the vast majority of citizens and their families (aprox 96% of the state are insured now). No one else running for President has ever achieved this kind of practicality. Now why is that?
Consider why most heathcare reforms have failed in the past: Politicians get too overambitious, they don't know what they're talking about, they want to change everything all at once. They bandy about numbers and imaginary solutions, and promise the world to buy your vote. The difference is: Governor Dean is also a Medical Doctor. He's had decades of first-hand experience with all facets of the complex web of healthcare and insurance industries. And because of that know-how, and a disciplined approach to spending, he designed a solution for Vermont that works. And that same methodology applied to all states will result in truly achievable healthcare for American families.
Governor Dean's decision making discipline stems from a Doctor's need to weigh solid evidence -- not photo-ops, not forged documents, not magic numbers that seduce voters with false promises. You don't cut out a gall bladder just because you think it's responsible for your anxiety attacks. And you don't do it in order to test out the latest surgical gizmos. And you don't sacrifice human lives based upon a hunch.
It's these qualities of demonstrated leadership that draw more and more people of all parties to Governor Dean. It's time to get the job done. Enough with the false promises.
What's your story? Have you switched to Dean? Tell us why.
